ORESME

Word + Multimedia Subtitle Editor

ORESME is a subtitle redaction and edition environment based on Word and Multimedia. Video documents can be in AVI, MOV, MPG or other formats supported by Windows media player. ORESME recognize many of the Word formatting attributes and translate them into appropriate captioning commands. Several subtitle formatting tools are and will be added to Word to ease subtitle preparation. ORESME can accept files from source that Word can read and convert them into subtitle files, ready for synchronization.

A powerful Automation Server handles the multimedia and real time tasks, such as reading timecode and sending data to the line 21 encoder (µCCI) or character generator (µSTM/GC). This allows ORESME to be used for encoding as well.

Subtitle files can also be exported to other formats (Gélogic STM, Cheetah ASC, ImageLogic LLP).

ORESME also allows simultaneous open and close captioning from the same file. The text destination is specified using the paragraph style.
